It’s my favorite month and I do not want it to end!
So here’s a horror film for each sign…check out your Sun, as well as your Moon sign to discover perhaps an emotional support horror film1 or your Venus sign to find some style inspo, OR even your Mars sign to get some true catharsis!2
Aries-Carrie (1976)
Horror movie keywords for Aries? Rage, blood, fire. A movie that begins with period blood and ends with a teen girl’s psychic rage resulting in a fire? Let’s go!
Where to Watch3: AMC+, Amazon Prime, YouTubeTV, Philo, Sling
Taurus- The Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
With the Taurus urge to get cozy, don’t think I wasn’t tempted to list the schlocky Killer Sofa as the Taurean pick for Halloween. However, I couldn’t do you like that, Taurus. Urge to bed rot aside, you give off a certain glamour, like Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton as rock n roll lovers/vampires in The Only Lovers Left Alive.
Where to Watch: Pluto TV (Free), Paramount+, Amazon Prime
Gemini-Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Silence is something a Gemini is never great at, however psychological manipulation?4 That’s where they have you beat. Geminis know how to sweet talk you much like Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs.
Where to Watch: Amazon Prime
Cancer- An American Werewolf in London (1981)
It’s too easy to make the Cancer-Moon-Werewolf connection, but I will do it! And I will do it with pride because I am a Cancer. Also the end of An American Werewolf in London made me tear up, a very Cancerian thing.
Where to Watch: Tubi (Free) Roku Channel (Free) Amazon Prime, AMC+
Leo-Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Listen…Halloween is fun. It’s camp! Leos are also fun and are going to take this opportunity to dress up and put on a show! They will also definitely being doing the Time Warp again…5
Where to Watch: Hulu, Disney+
Virgo- Midsommar (2019)
Virgo, the mutable earth sign, is all about existing in the liminal space between Summer and Fall. Midsommar at it’s core is about living in the liminal spaces of life and moving gracefully through the seasons…even if that means making some sacrifices.
Where to Watch: Max, YouTube, Hulu
Libra- Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
I really enjoyed seeing this movie in the theaters-despite male critics giving it poor reviews (Maybe it’s not FOR YOU). With Libra being ruled by Venus, it would be poor form of me to not point out that Lisa Frankenstein had a great style! From the 80s goth vibes to utilizing the body language established by Elsa Lanchester in The Bride of Frankenstein, Lisa embodies Libra’s aesthetic. Also, did you know that our favs who starred as Universal Monsters had Libra placements?6
Where to Watch: Amazon Prime
Scorpio-Trick ‘r Treat (2007)
Scorpio is tough, because really any movie is going to see SO ON THE NOSE! But why not one that weaves multiple tales of Halloween together and also begins with cautionary story about disrespecting spooky season? I also like this for Scorpio because it takes place at night, really capitalizing on the shadows and lights emitting from glowing houses or jack-o-lanterns.
Where to Watch: HBO Max, YouTube, Hulu
Sagittarius- Beetlejuice (1988)
Jupiter ruling over the sign of Sagittarius gives the sign humor and a thirst for knowledge. So why not watch Beetlejuice for some gallows humor and also seek out the answer to the question: This is great, but how did this get made?7
Where to Watch: HBO Max, YouTube, Hulu
Capricorn- The Wicker Man
Following tradition and rules, whether you’re a pagan or law-abiding Christian, is a Capricorn’s favorite thing. As an Earth sign focused on reaping in a successful harvest, a Capricorn will stop at nothing to make their crops flourish…even if that means keeping an appointment with The Wicker Man.
Where to Watch: Tubi (Free), FreeVee (Free), Fawesome (Free)
Aquarius- The Substance (2024)
A horror film about a futuristic technology that also has a social message about how beauty standards are bullshit? Perfect for community centric, forward-thinking Aquarians. A friend of mine said it best, “I loved The Substance, but I never need to see it again.” Worth a watch and it will live in your brain forever.
Where to Watch: Currently in theaters
Pisces-It Follows (2014)
2 words: Seashell e-reader. Whether you take this film as analogy for the AIDS crisis/STIs in general or at its face value of a good old (new?) fashioned haunting, Pisces is associated with both actually! Pisces as a mutable sign is all about permeability and transference.
Where to Watch: Tubi (Free), Peacock, AMC+
I’m not the only one who has those, right?
Do not get all pissy in my comment section about how you wanted your sign to be a movie that isn’t even listed. Every astrologer has a different interpretation of the signs and if mine do not resonate with you then this Substack is not for you.

Omg it’s a joke chill!
Never forget my first time going to see Rocky Horror with my friends who had seen if before and getting yelled at by the people behind us for participating (they thought it was a regular movie viewing).
Bela Lugosi is a Libra Sun and Boris Karloff has his Venus in Libra
Do not discuss the sequel with me. I did not enjoy it. Timmy B had a lot of plot lines going on in that one.
