Horoscope 11/03-11/09
Isadora (1968)
This week has manic energy. There’s struggles and excess; deception and determination. And so we take a page out of Isadora Duncan’s autobiography, and we persevere forward, using our creativity to lead us and trying not to overindulge in base desires-like love1. This week encourages us to make smart fashion choices and not wear long scarves or relentlessly pursue men who drive Bugatti’s this week.
Known for her scandalous dance performances at the beginning of the 20th century, Isadora Duncan was perhaps one of the first manic pixie dream girls. Motivated solely by beauty, art and freedom, Duncan changed dance forever. And like many avant-garde artists, dealt with some heartbreaking situations that fed her work. Directed by Karel Reisz, Isadora (1968) features Vanessa Redgrave in the titular role and damn she’s good. Told through flashbacks at the end of Duncan’s life as she attempts to write her autobiography and chase down the mysterious man in the Bugatti who will eventually cause her demise, Redgrave brings Duncan’s wild energy to the screen with ease.
This Week’s Transits
11/03-Mars in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn: You know you make things very difficult for me, Isadora.
Venus in Sagittarius opposite Jupiter in Gemini: I’m going to get as drunk as 16 owls
Mars enters Leo: My heart is pure…my body is pure, my soul is pure
11/04-Sun in Scorpio trine Saturn in Pisces: …I will dedicate myself to the pursuit of art and beauty…
11/09-Venus in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces: …to seal this vow I hereby solemnly burn my parent’s marriage certificate…
On the 3rd, the vibe is to give up and drink yourself into oblivion in the French Riviera. However, don’t let whatever obstacles come about on this day intimidate or hinder your creative passion. As Mars opposes Pluto at the final degrees of Cancer and Capricorn respectively, issues concerning parental figures2 or perhaps your home life will become an obstacle to your career. The urge to call it quits and give in will be strong, and sometimes that is a viable option. However, will pushing to change the dance world forever be difficult? Duh. Your pro-Soviet, topless dance might turn a few heads and enrage all of Boston, but that’s the price you might have to pay to become a legend. Venus in Sagittarius opposite Jupiter in Gemini will perhaps intensify your desire to give up on your hopes, dreams, work projects in favor of languishing in bed. Quite frankly, who I am to tell you what to do? I also love a good bed rot. With Mars entering Leo on the 3rd, perhaps you will find a way to dance your cares away. Leo is the sign of showbiz and putting your energy into your next great artistic pursuit might just be the ticket to pushing through the hopelessness and urge to lounge. But keep track of what is transpiring now, as Mars will retrograde in Leo from December 6th-February 23rd, 2025. He is slowing down now and won’t get too far into Leo (only 6 degrees) before crossing back over into Cancer on January 6th.
On the 4th the Sun will trine Saturn in Scorpio and Pisces, respectively. This bodes well for discipline and focus on our deepest passions and artistic pursuits. Take stock of what resources you have and pawn all the jewelry the sewing machine heir has given you, it’s time to get down to business. The 9th has Venus forming a square to Neptune in the mutable signs of Sagittarius and Pices. Beware of wearing rose-colored glasses when it comes to relationships, instead I would encourage you to take a page out of 12-year-old Isadora Duncan’s book and perform this kind of ritual. Chasing men in Bugatti’s will only cause you…death?
God forbid!
Cancer and Capricorn are the Mom and Dad of the Zodiac.
